Old but very gold. Excavations of mustard plants prove that mustard was cultivated in what is now India as early as 3,800 years ago. In the Middle Ages, it was one of the few seasonings used not only for refining food but also as a medicinal remedy. The Develey story begins in 1845 when Johann Conrad Develey produced medium-hot mustard based on the French model in his mustard factory.
